Not only is this record scarce, but it looks like the labels on the whole press run were put on backwards! None the less, One of my big underground faves from NYC, produced by heavyweight JAZZY JAY! Good Luck finding this one!

I remember seeing this record at Fat Beats NYC when I lived there in 1996 and regretted not picking one up. When I got back to St. Louis, I would constantly listen to white labels looking for this record. Turns out, I found one for 3.00 bucks at Deep Grooves in the Delmar Loop / U.City, MO. Evil D uses "Star of the Story : Heatwave & Lays the Harlem Underground feat. George Benson : Cheeba Cheeba drums up under it. Dreamy and mysterious to say the least. It's such a great track, I actually assembled the same samples and payed hommage to it by making my own track.
A pretty rare record outside of the Big Apple!

All right, Check It. This is one of the TOUGHEST records that is totally underated! Mikey D & the L.A. Posse! Mix and production by the legendary Paul C. R.I.P. Rahzell, or Rozell (according to him, as his mother named him) is being sampled on the cut and Paul C created the brick house bassline by Sampling Rahzell's voice. The other melody that you hear is Paul C playing the S.W.A.T. theme w/ blazing horn samples. You can also hear him on the breaks going " Ahhhhhh....) Scratches by: Johnny Quest! Sorry L.L., You can't fucks wit' this hardcore Hip Hop!!!

Before "rebel without a pause" Hank Shocklee and Chuck D were writing and producing, and this is one of there records. I had a radio show at KWUR 90.3 FM in 1988 when this came out, And we had no idea of what was to come. This record has the pre- public enemy elements though, and very much like ultra magnetics.I won't disclose who lifted the station copy back in the day, But I paid an honest 40-50 bucks for this minty copy on E-Bay.

I used to dream about finding impeach the president on a 45. Seeing this cover back in 1987 was crazy, I'm sure this record and cover influenced a lot of dj's to start producing. I know I did. 45 king amazes me to this day with his minimalist approach to beatmaking and coming up with DOPE stuff. I am still looking for some of those samples today.

I bought this record at Vintage Vinyl for $1.99. It one of the few that I kept from my 1st collection that I sold in 94' before I moved to NYC. Haven't seen another copy like it. Back then I used to date the record when I got it and write the BPM on the label. I don't do that anymore as it lowers the value for re-sale. Definatly on my top 10 list of all time favorite hip hop records.

Biz Markie "Nobody Beats the Biz" White Label Promo

I found this on my own, before I was in the record biz full time. It's kind of obscure as I haven't seen another white label of this title. I always used to make a habit of rolling up on Biz and picking his brain for knowlege, before the serato revolution, and he knows his stuff. I had this autographed by him in 1999 when he came to a free concert w/ De la Soul and Pharhoe Monch. When He got done, I chased him down and talked for a few. He asked me if I wanted to sell this record to him, and I said: naw, sorry man, I gotta hang on to this one... He was very cool about it... Biz is a very smart man when it comes to music...

Back in the late 80's, My friend would bring back WBLS cassette tapes from New York.. Marley Marl used to host the show: In Control.. This record was remixed by him and he would play this even before it was pressed up... Marley was always remixing things, As you will notice with Biz Markie: Make the Music and the Symphony, just to name a few.. I bought the record new in 1988 and haven't seen one since, nor is it in the freddy fresh hip hop guide as a domestic press.... Real funky reggae hip hop from england via NYC...
